Gut health
Digestion, microbiome, inflammation: how you nourish yourself shapes everything else.

Women’s wellness, privacy by design
ShifaaTech is a wellbeing companion built for Muslim women: nutrition, cycles, mood and spiritual balance in one private, caring app. Now in private beta, built in Dubai.
The problem
Across many Muslim communities, women’s health is wrapped in taboo. Mainstream health apps weren’t designed with these women in mind. And the data involved is among the most sensitive a person can share.
Cycles, menopause and mental load are rarely discussed, even with doctors. Silence has a health cost.
In mainstream health apps, prayer, fasting and modesty are afterthoughts at best. Her context is treated as an edge case.
Menstrual cycles, mood, religious practice: handing this to an app should never be an act of blind trust.
ShifaaTech was built to close all three gaps at once: a companion that speaks the culture, and treats every data point as the confidence it is. It accompanies. It never diagnoses, never prescribes. When health calls for it, it points to real practitioners.
The need
The numbers behind the silence. None of them are ours. They are why we build.

The four pillars
Morning and evening, a gentle check-in captures a few simple signals. The ShifaaTech engine reads them through four lenses of women’s health and orients the journey it proposes. This is the heart of the product, refined with medical practitioners as we move toward launch.
Digestion, microbiome, inflammation: how you nourish yourself shapes everything else.
Signals it reads
The engine connects what you eat to how you feel, and gently reorients its daily suggestions.
Stress, mood, sleep, emotional load: tended to without judgement.
Signals it reads
When the load gets heavy, the journey slows down: softer check-ins, calmer suggestions.
Energy, strength, recovery: ageing well starts long before old age.
Signals it reads
Small, steady habits: the engine favours consistency over intensity, at every age.
Hormonal transitions, cycles, symptoms: supported at every stage, never treated as a taboo.
Signals it reads
The whole app adapts to your reproductive state. Nothing ever assumes a textbook cycle.
ShifaaTech offers orientation and daily support. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat any condition.
The product
You ate 1,950 of the 2,000 kcal your body burns today.
Today’s actions
One gentle step at a time, Amina.
Days 1 to 3: 9 actions completed.
A warm AI companion, by text or voice, in English, French or Arabic. Every conversation runs behind consent checks and built-in crisis safeguards.
Snap a photo, get your meal logged. Shifaa is designed to never praise under-eating, a safeguard we encode and test in our codebase.
8 reproductive states, from first cycles to post-menopause. The app adapts; no woman is an edge case.
A gentle morning and evening ritual, and a monthly picture of how you’re really doing.
Prayer times, qibla, duas and meditation: entirely optional, tuned to your own rhythm, never tracked as a score.
Medical documents stored in a biometric-locked vault, readable when you need them.
Privacy & ethics
The data a woman shares here, her cycle, her mood, her practice, deserves more than a checkbox. So we built consent the hard way:
More than 20 separate permissions: menstrual tracking, mood, food photos, voice, religious practice and more. Each one off by default, each one revocable, each change kept in an audit trail.
Export everything from inside the app. Delete your account with a 30-day grace period, then automated erasure.
Sensitive data is protected by hardware-backed encryption on your device (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore) and encrypted server storage.
Meal photos are stripped of location metadata, and photos and voice notes are automatically deleted after 90 days.
AI-assisted suggestions run under their own separate consent: decline it, and they stay off.
Built to GDPR standards, including explicit consent for special-category data, with UAE data-protection requirements in scope.
Sharia-aligned by design, formal attestation in progress. No dark patterns, no engagement traps, no selling of attention. Accessibility is a feature: screen-reader support built in and checked in our CI, and an interface that works in Arabic right-to-left.
Where we are
ShifaaTech is in private beta on iOS (TestFlight), built in Dubai. Our first launch focus is the Gulf region, with English, French and Arabic supported from day one. We are seeking grant support to carry the product from beta to public launch.
Questions from grant committees and partners are welcome.
